Sustainability

At Green Abode, we're all about sustainability. We're doing our part to leave a small carbon footprint on the earth. From using eco-friendly materials in our homes to minimising waste, we're committed to being as green as possible. Our team is always looking for new ways to reduce waste and promote environmental stewardship in all our projects. We want to build a greener future for everyone!

Sustainable Materials

We use sustainable materials as much as possible, from bamboo flooring to woollen carpets. The OSB used in our panels comes from Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) managed forests and utilises 90% of the useable timber from the source tree. (To compare, timber-framed homes use only about 25%.)

Minimising Waste

Because SIPs arrive pre-cut to site, there is less material wastage. Of the small amount of waste that's produced, most can be recycled.

Recycling

Our EPS panels are recyclable. A small amount of extra EPS is sent to the building site as packaging to protect the panels during transport. Where possible, this additional EPS gets sent back to our supplier in large wool bales. From there, the supplier sends it to waste management for recycling.

We have recycling bins on-site for all other materials.

Trees That Count

For every home we build, we donate 20 native trees for planting around the wider Wellington region. This is our way of completing the circle of sustainability.
